A New Type of Christmas List

The list that will help you de-stress this holiday season. It is a list which will help prioritize and focus your holiday season. It will avoid you from getting lured into the trappings of the commercialism of the holidays. It will help you avoid getting sucked into what you feel you “have” to do. Instead, this list will help you create a season that brings you joy. Things that resonate with your idea of a joyous, fun, happy, stress less holiday season. You will find yourself doing the things that you look forward to each holiday season, period, end of conversation.

The first time I realized that I didn’t HAVE to send Christmas cards I felt a huge relief. I now send Christmas cards when I want to. Some years I will send a letter, some years a picture card, some years an old-fashioned card with no picture and some years I don’t send any cards at all. On those years that I commit to sending cards, I enjoy the process much more. It doesn’t feel like a chore.

The baking of cookies is usually a "like and want to do" for me. However, some years I will make five to ten different types of cookies and some years I will only make one kind. And again, some years I don’t make any cookies at all. I have yet to lose a friend or a relative because I haven’t made them their favorite cookie.

Visit my website for ”The New Christmas List” activity sheet. It includes 35 activities typically associated with the holidays. You put a check mark in one of the three columns:

  • Don’t Like To Do,

  • Like/Want To Do,

  • Have To Do.

Right there in black and white, you will see how the activities stack up between your perception of “have to do’s“ vs. “want to dos”. If you check off the “Have To Do“ column, write the reason why you feel you have to do it. This will help you assess how that activity truly aligns with your ideas of a joyous holiday season.

This simple exercise will help you prioritize what’s important for you during the holidays. It’s not letting you get sucked into what you “should be doing”. Rather it is allowing you to do the holidays the way you want to do it. I can assure you that you will ring in the New Year feeling more refreshed and joyful, if you’ve enjoyed the activities you’ve done rather than seeing them as a chore.

My expertise is on helping people like you to unlock your potential to live a focused, balanced, authentic life.

Contact me to set “A Focused Holiday Conversation“ with your friends and/or family. It is a fun event full of “aha moments” and lots of laughs.

Enjoy using the New Christmas List activity sheet.
